1. Acceptance of terms

By using The Basecamp Check ("this tool," "this site"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't use the tool. This tool is provided by Online Tax Solutions Group LLC (doing business as Tax Sherpa) ("we," "us," "our").

2. What this tool is - and isn't

The Basecamp Check is a free, educational estimation tool for HVAC business owners. It includes modules for Fulfillment Cost, Pricing Benchmark, and Seasonality so you can compare a few business numbers against general benchmark ranges and see where a deeper review may be warranted.

This tool does not provide tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice. The numbers it produces are illustrative estimates based on general assumptions and user-entered inputs, not a calculation of your specific tax situation, accounting records, or business value. They are not a substitute for professional advice tailored to your company, your books, your state, your entity structure, or your actual tax position.

3. Key assumptions behind every estimate

To keep this tool simple and free, every result depends on the inputs you enter and on fixed benchmark assumptions that will not match every business:

• Fulfillment Cost: the tool compares fulfillment-related costs against a general 35% to 45% revenue guardrail for a traditional HVAC shop and compares fixed overhead and owner profit against internal benchmark targets.
• Pricing Benchmark: the tool uses a revenue-tier Owner Benefit benchmark table to estimate what a business your size may be aiming to produce for the owner.
• Seasonality: the tool flags months when revenue swings exceed both 10% and $1,500 from the trailing average, with a middle warning state when only one trigger is tripped.
• User-entered numbers: the tool does not verify your bookkeeping, job costing, payroll classification, tax treatment, or whether a number was entered in the correct category.

4. Professional assistance recommended

A real operating decision requires more than a calculator output. The Basecamp Check is meant to help you spot patterns and ask better questions. Before changing pricing, payroll, staffing, tax planning, financing, or owner distributions based on these estimates, you should review your actual books and tax situation with a qualified professional. We recommend booking a consultation with Tax Sherpa or another qualified tax professional before implementing anything based on this tool's output.

5. No data retention

This tool does not collect, save, or store the calculator numbers you enter - see our Privacy Policy for details. Because nothing is saved, we have no record of your specific results and cannot retrieve them for you after your session ends.

6. No warranty

This tool is provided "as is," without any warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Benchmarks and calculations may become outdated as business conditions change, tax law changes, or our assumptions are revised.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Online Tax Solutions Group LLC (doing business as Tax Sherpa) is not liable for any decisions made, or actions taken or not taken, based on this tool's output, and is not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, this tool.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service at any time, for example to reflect a change in the underlying benchmarks or assumptions. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the tool after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
